Soft, flecked and full of character, this 100% Merino wool yarn is spun using traditional woollen spinning methods, echoing the homespun qualities of classic Donegal yarns. With its distinctive texture and gentle handle, it’s ideal for both weaving and knitting, offering warmth, softness and natural resilience.

Supplied on cones with spinning oil to aid long-term storage, this yarn reveals its true qualities after a thorough wash. We recommend hand washing in warm water with soap or a gentle wool wash—after which the fibres bloom beautifully, softening the handle and often brightening the colour slightly. As with all woollen spun yarns, we strongly advise creating and washing a swatch before beginning your project. This yarn may change shape after washing—typically tightening lengthwise and relaxing slightly in width—and can show a slight bias when worked in the round, which is usually corrected after blocking.

With a fairly high twist, this yarn can be used as a heavy fingering weight when held single, or doubled for an Aran-weight effect. Suitable for weaving, hand knitting, 3Gg machine knitting and 5Gg slip stitch work.
